Fiction writer and poet Benjamin Brindise will speak about the benefit of deconstructing the myth of inspiration. Getting started on a project or written work is always the hardest part, and in this workshop, Benjamin will discuss differing perspectives on inspiration and how changing the way we think about it can lead to higher productivity and better outcomes.

About the Speaker

Benjamin Brindise is a writer of fiction and poetry, as well as a teaching artist at the Just Buffalo Literary Center. He is a PSI-certified spoken-word poet who qualified to compete in the 2015 and 2016 National Poetry Slam. He has been a guest speaker and workshop facilitator at multiple higher education institutions and was voted Best Poet and Best Local Writer in Artvoice's 2015 Best of Buffalo awards.

Benjamin is the author of Rotten Kid (Ghost City Press, 2017) and I Was a Lid (Amazon, 2013). His work has also appeared in Tangent Literary Magazine, OCCULUM, Foundlings, Peach Mag, Ghost City Review, Down in the Dirt, and the Enriched with Dirt Anthology.

Notes: Registration opens each week at 7:45 a.m., with the presentation running from 8 to 9 a.m. and time for Q&A at the end. A light continental breakfast is provided.

The 2017 Sunrise Seminar Series is hosted at AAA Western and Central New York. Free on-site parking is available. Guests are encouraged to park behind the building (not the Sheridan Drive side). Enter through the glass atrium and follow the signs downstairs to the East Auditorium.
