Social Media Internship - Westminster Presbyterian Church

Westminster Presbyterian Society, Inc. – consisting of the church and Early Childhood Program – is a progressive religious institution that has been a moral and spiritual anchor in Western New York for more than 150 years. Westminster seeks a social media intern who is available for up to 10 hours per week. This is a paid internship with competitive compensation.

The Social Media Intern is responsible for coordinating and executing Westminster’s social media strategy, working across key social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. The successful candidate will work closely with key members of staff and members of the Church congregation. The intern will be instrumental in increasing our social media presence and gaining visibility for Westminster throughout the region.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Create event pages on Facebook, online calendars, and promote events through social media.
  • Post updates to Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts (under supervision of Director of Communications).
  • Train and assist Senior Staff members to achieve consistent social media usage.
  • Develop and implement creative techniques to increase reach and engagement and build community.
  • Create and implement innovative ways to utilize social media as a means to attract potential new congregants and as a tool to inform the public about services, programs and events.
  • Monitor current trends in marketing and social media.


  • College degree (or pursuing) in a relevant major with excellent GPA.
  • In-depth working knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram essential.
  • Proven communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team.
  • Basic knowledge of Photoshop and graphic design experience a plus.
